What Is a Prayer Board and How to Create One

Sometimes it helps to see our prayers written out in front of us. A prayer board is a simple but powerful tool that lets you keep your prayers visible, organized, and close to your heart. It’s a way to turn a wall, corkboard, or even a digital space into a place of prayer and encouragement.

Whether you’ve never heard of one before or you’re looking for new prayer board ideas, here’s a gentle guide to help you start.

What Is a Prayer Board?

A prayer board is a space where you can write down prayers, Scripture, and reminders of God’s faithfulness. Some people use a corkboard or whiteboard, others create one in a journal or digitally on a tablet.

The goal is to create a visual reminder of the things you’re lifting up to God. Over time, a prayer board can also become a testimony as you’ll see the prayers God has answered and the ways He’s been faithful.

Why Use a Prayer Board?

  • Keeps prayer visible - Instead of forgetting, your board nudges you to pray daily.

  • Helps focus - Writing things down makes it easier to stay focused instead of feeling overwhelmed.

  • Builds faith - Seeing answered prayers over time encourages trust in God.

  • Brings creativity into prayer - You can make it as simple or decorative as you want.

How to Create a Prayer Board

  1. Choose your space
You can use a corkboard, whiteboard, poster, or even a section of your wall. If you prefer digital you can use a digital prayer board templates as the ones in my bible journals.

  2. Gather your supplies
Sticky notes, index cards, or printed Bible verses work well. For digital boards, use inspirational photos, bible verses, stickers, etc.

  3. Write down your prayers
Add requests for family, friends, work, your church, or the world. Keep each one simple and clear.

  4. Include Scripture
Add verses that encourage you. For example, Philippians 4:6–7 for peace or Psalm 23 for comfort.

  5. Create sections if you’d like
Some people divide their board into categories: personal, family, community, world, answered prayers. This helps you see where God is moving.

  6. Update regularly
As prayers are answered, move them into an “answered” section or highlight them. This builds a beautiful record of God’s faithfulness.

Prayer Board Ideas

A prayer board doesn’t have to be perfect or fancy, it just needs to be meaningful to you. Think of it as a visual way to walk with God daily, lifting your prayers and seeing His answers unfold over time.

Start simple, and let it grow with you. Before long, your board will not just hold prayers, it will hold reminders of God’s presence and faithfulness in your life.
