How to Change the Sleep Screen on Your Remarkable 2

Want to customize your Remarkable’s sleep screen? It’s a fun way to add a personal touch to your device! I’ll walk you through the process using the Notable Utility. Keep in mind if you update your software, it might reset your custom screen, so you may need to set it up again!

Step 1: Download the Notable Utility

First, download the Notable Utility on your device (it’s free to use). I’m using it on my Macbook and it works perfectly for me.

Step 2: Connect to Wi-Fi and Find Your Remarkable’s IP Address

Make sure both your Remarkable tablet and your device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. On your Remarkable go to Settings > General > About > Copyright and Licenses.

On the bottom right of the screen, you’ll see the password for your Remarkable in bold text, along with the IP address.

Step 3: Connect the Notable Utility

Open the Notable Utility on your device. Tap the connect icon and enter the IP address you just found, along with the username ‘root’ and the password from your Remarkable device.

Tap Test Connection. If everything’s set up right, you should see a green tick and a message saying success. If it doesn’t work, double-check that your Remarkable isn’t in sleep mode and that everything is entered correctly.

Step 4: Choose and Save Your Custom sleep screen

Once you’re connected, tap the Screens icon, then tap Choose Image. Pick the image from your device that you’d like to use. If you want a landscape image for your sleep screen, you can select one and simply adjust the orientation.

And that’s it! Your Remarkable device now has a custom sleep screen!

Please note that this tutorial is only for Remarkable 2 devices. For the Paper Pro, it’s a bit more complicated and requires additional steps.
