How to Embrace the Season of Waiting (Even When It’s Hard)
If you’re in a season of waiting right now, I just want to say: I see you. More importantly, God sees you.
Waiting can feel like one of the hardest things to walk through. Whether you're waiting for a prayer to be answered, direction for your future, healing, a relationship, or a breakthrough - it’s not easy to sit in the in-between. Waiting can feel quiet, uncertain, and sometimes even lonely.
But waiting is not wasted.
In fact, some of the most beautiful things God does in our lives happen not after the wait - but during it. So today, I want to share a few thoughts on how to embrace this season of waiting, even when it’s hard.
1. Be Honest With God
You don’t have to pretend to be okay if you’re not. God isn’t looking for perfect prayers - He’s just looking for you. Pour your heart out to Him. Tell Him your fears, your questions, your frustrations. He can handle all of it, and He’s not disappointed in you for struggling.
“Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.” - Psalm 62:8
2. Remember That Waiting Has Purpose
Even if you can’t see it right now, God is working. Waiting seasons are often where God shapes us, softens our hearts, and brings us closer to Him. Sometimes God uses the wait to prepare us for what we’ve been praying for.
3. Look for God in the Small Things
Waiting can make us so focused on the future that we miss God in the present. Try looking for little moments of His goodness right where you are. A warm cup of coffee. A kind word. A sunset that makes you smile. These are small reminders that He’s still with you - even here.
4. Lean Into Community
You don’t have to wait alone. Reach out to a friend, join a Bible study, or ask someone to pray with you. Sometimes, simply hearing “me too” can bring more comfort than a hundred answers.
5. Anchor Yourself in Truth
When your feelings are all over the place, God’s Word stays steady. Find a few verses that speak to your heart and hold on to them. Write them down. Say them out loud. Let them be your anchor when the waiting gets stormy.
Here are a few to start with:
“The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.” - Lamentations 3:25
“Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.” - Psalm 37:7
“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.” - Isaiah 40:31
6. Give Yourself Grace
Waiting is hard. Don’t pressure yourself to “wait well” or figure everything out. God isn’t timing your patience or grading your faith. He’s simply inviting you to trust Him a little more each day.
If You’re Still Waiting…
You’re not forgotten. You’re not being punished. You’re not behind. You’re right where God has you, and He hasn’t stopped writing your story.
So take a deep breath. Keep your heart open. Keep showing up. And know that the One who called you into this season will be with you through every moment of it.
