Simple Christian Morning Routine

I didn’t always love mornings, but over time, I’ve learned to build a christian morning routine that I truly look forward to each day. There’s something so peaceful and almost magical about the early hours - when everything is still and quiet. It’s the perfect time to pause, connect with God, and prepare for the day ahead.

My morning routine has changed with the seasons of life, and that’s completely normal. It doesn’t have to take an hour or be anything complicated. Even just 15 minutes can make a big difference.

Everyone’s morning routine will look a little different, and that’s completely okay. If you’re in the process of creating your own, feel free to use this as inspiration. Take what speaks to you and fits your life right now - something that feels aligned with your heart and season. It’s not about perfection, but about creating space to be with God.

1. Prepare the night before

If I want to spend quiet time with God in the morning, I’ve found it really helps to get things ready the night before. I plan my day ahead, tidy up, run the dishwasher, and set out my clothes. This way, my mind isn’t distracted by chores or to-dos when I wake up. I can go straight to spending time with God.

2. Read the Bible

Morning is the perfect time to read Scripture - before the day gets busy and full of distractions. I try not to look at my phone for at least an hour after I wake up, so the first thing I take in is God’s Word. I love journaling while I read to help me reflect and understand more deeply. Devotionals and Bible journaling have been really helpful tools for me. Currently I use my digital bible journals for journaling.

3. Create a cozy space

Having a peaceful, cozy spot in your home can make a big difference. Whether it’s a comfy chair, a blanket, a candle, or a warm drink - make it a place that feels restful. This helps me enjoy and look forward to my quiet time even more.

4. Get ready for the day

After my Bible time, I start getting ready - do my skincare, take my supplements, fix my hair. I often use this time to think about what I just read, letting those words stay with me as I move through the rest of my morning.

5. Move my body

Caring for our bodies is important, too. I try to spend 15–20 minutes stretching or doing a simple home workout. It helps me feel more awake, strong, and energized.

6. Pray

Before I head into the rest of the day, I take a few minutes to pray and sit in stillness. Sometimes I do a short meditation or breathing exercises. It helps me feel more grounded and present.

7. Make a nourishing breakfast

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day - it feels special, especially when we sit down and eat together as a family. I love making simple, healthy meals that still feel comforting. Some of my favorite breakfasts are chia pudding and scrambled oats. In addition I add toppings like flaxseed, hemp seeds, or coconut flakes.

8. Listen to worship music

While I’m cooking or taking care of small morning chores, I love having worship music playing in the background. It fills the home with peace and lifts my spirit. It’s a simple way to stay connected to God even in the little moments, and it helps me start the day with joy and gratitude.

I’d love to know—what do you include in your morning routine to start your day? Please feel free to share in the comments. 💛
